Divorce Study Needs You
I am a graduate student at Texas Tech University.
I am inviting you to participate in my dissertation project, Divorce and the Faith Community: Some Experiences of Women. I am conducting this research at Family Matters NOW. Your participation in this project involves answering questions about your experiences as a member of your faith community (e.g., friends, church, group, denomination, etc.) during and after your divorce, and just basically telling your story about it.
My goal is to identify those qualities, characteristics, and aspects of the faith community that are helpful and not helpful in the divorce experience for women. I believe you can make a distinct and valuable contribution to this project, and I am very interested in your viewpoint on your faith community.
You may be assured of complete confidentiality. Any information you provide will remain confidential. Please note that your responses will not be shared with the person who referred you to me. All data will remain confidential and I will use false names in the reporting of verbatim quotations when I present the results of this study.
The results of this research will be made available to students, researchers, clinicians, faith community members, and all interested persons. When the report is completed, a summary of it will be available on the website.
I am most happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to contact me by email.
I appreciate your willingness to tell your story and, ultimately, make a difference for many others. Thank you very much for participating!
Addendum: While I will appreciate your participation in this study at any time, I especially need as many divorced women as possible to participate by May 3, 2003.
