Mom’s wisdom:
Don’t waste your time feeling sorry for yourself. Don’t belittle yourself. Never forget that you are a child of God. You have a divine birthright. Something of the very nature of God is within you. The Psalmist sang, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” (Psalms 82:6)

But it’s so much EASIER to feel sorry for myself! hee hee
I hate to admit it, but I have a few people I want to copy this down for!
beautiful words, I may print this out and keep it close. thanks for posting.

For me, “Never forget that you are a child of God. You have a divine birthright,” is nearly impossible. I have huge trust issues with men, and God being a man, well, being a child of him is actually a turn-off. So I have to work hard at feeling and believing this is true, that this is a good thing.
“Don’t waste your time feeling sorry for yourself. ” I’m curious how to know when you have crossed the line from validating your own pain to feeling sorry for yourself.
If any of you have any thoughts about this, I’d be glad to take them here, or if this is threadjacking, please e-mail me or otherwise contact me via my blog. I don’t want to be disrespectful of the original post-er.

For me, the line crossing happens when I become preoccupied with the same issue over a long period of time – if I hear myself repeating the same complaints over and over, I need to move on.
