For Good

Sometimes artists use their talents to cater to the basest nature of the human race, to the Biblical “natural man.” (OK, so it’s really Book of Mormonical, but ?come on.) Sometimes they use them to praise God, to bring out the best in us, to move us to be better and to be more noble.

Reflections of Christ is one such venture. Please use this thread to ad your own very best examples of goodness and even godliness in art.

You’ve gotta watch the behind the scenes vids. I LOVE the angel one.

It’s amazing that this has not been commented on. How do you talk about greatness!! It was truly a very beautiful and I feel, inspired, piece of work. How do you top greatness. There is nothing greater than a work of art done on the Savior. This type of work is very inspired!!! We are just getting word here in Calif. about the new Emma Smith movie. Very, very excited to see it. Thanks for sharing this with us Alison.

This exhibit was SO beautiful! Thank you for sharing it with us.
For me, the form of art that helps me feel closer to God is music. It amazes me how well the artisits can convey exactly what I feel, or need to hear. I wish that I had one of those writers with me all the time so that I could explain how I feel and have them put it into a song for me.

Thanks for linking this. Every time I watch this video, I am amazed at the love of the Savior and find a reaffirmation of my love for Him. I especially needed this today. Yesterday we got some not-so-great news and I felt like I had been punched in the gut yet again. I needed to see and hear this again to help me catch my breath and gain some perspective. For anyone needing some help through any type of challenge, this video is a particularly potent way of regaining equilibrium and hope!

As for art forms, I’m with Mandy and Nana – music and paintings about the Savior bring His love and sacrifice to life for me. Music in general is a healing balm and helps me feel closer to HF. Mandy, I wouldn’t mind having Hilary Weeks following me around putting my feelings to music. She basically already does that!

I’m sorry for your gut-punching, not-so-great news, dear. I hope things get better. I am praying for you.

Thank you for your comments on this. This gives me chills–and you will rarely hear me use that Mormon cliche.
